| The Big Hole in a Bigger Tree |
One of the things that our family likes best of all is to take a hike. So Saturday we headed to Pinnacle to enjoy the beautiful fall day. We decided to take the Kingfisher Trail and show Gavin the giant bald cyprus trees that grow along the river.
Our first stop was at a fallen log that edged the water. Gavin enjoyed walking up and down it and then pausing for a big hug with mom.
Gavin still wasn't convinced though that this trail was going to be better than the playground. That is until we reached the "big hole" inside the tree. We knew all along that this would be what he liked best of all and we were right. Gavin climbed right up inside without hesitation and loved exploring the tree from the inside out!
Leaving the tree behind wasn't easy. Gavin wanted to keep going back in the "big hole" so Daddy decided that a ride was in order. For the rest of the trail Gavin got a ride on Daddy's shoulders.
We ended our wonderful morning at the park with a trip to the playground, but the "big hole" is what Gavin thinks of the most. Hopefully another pretty day will find us back exploring more interesting holes! |
