Zoo trip and Adoption Info
Well, I think this past weekend we made history or memories with our family. I don't think it was all that at the time. Looking back on that day and seeing all the photos is making me stop and realize that we had a special day.

I'll tease everyone now with an update to our adoption process. We got some news from DCFS today. If you want to know, keep reading. I'll put in somewhere.

Oh... where was I????

That's right. The special day the Corbin family had.

This past weekend we went to the zoo! Heather, me, and Gavin. (I can hear some of ya'lls brain clicking. Why didn't Heather leave me there? I guess she had pity on the animals.) We met our good friends Jennie, Kevin, and Adien (aka the Mergel family). We also made a new friend named Tika and her daughter Maddox. Did you know the zoo had lots of animals? Where do you start? Well, you start out by asking Gavin in what he wanted. (On this day, the answer wasn't sissy.)

Gavin wanted to start out with the gorillas.

It was really nice to see Gavin and Aiden go ape-wild watching the big animals together. The gorillas had their babies out with them. In one of the pictures, you find that the mother gorilla has watched a lot of human moms. She was chasing her baby everywhere! I'm sure she's see several moms and dads chase little ones all over the zoo. That wasn't the case with Gavin. He stayed with us either in the wagon or pulling the wagon. What a big boy he is!

Did I mention we got a letter from DCFS today???

Where did we go from there???? We left the gorillas behind. What was in front of us? It was BIG! It was BETTER! It was the LRFD!!!! Uh, I mean a fire truck!

Yes folks! Take a look at this bad looking fire truck on the right. Doesn't it just scream RIDE ME!!! It's the city's new emergency response vehicle. You have an emergency? Don't worry we'll be there smiling all the way.

Well, Gavin's expression says it all doesn't it? Well, actually to be honest, it's a little on the small side. However, the ultimate smile and noise maker was just a few feet away (and only a few centimeteres below)

Check out the smile that Heather and Gavin are both sharing posing in front of the Little Rock Fire Department's enginge. There were firemen there to show off their stuff and to promote fire safety with the kids. I saw a lot of kids be lifted up into the cab with eyes of wonder.

I didn't know if Gavin would get up in the cab himself. He was a little shy. But, with the encouragement from mom, he allowed the firefigher to place him in the cab and then he helped Heather in to sit next to Gavin. Why couldn't I get up there? I'm never that lucky. I never realized how high up the firefighters are when they are in the cab. I think Heather was glad to have a nice young, strong firefighter to "help" her down. Now don't laugh. You all know how clutzy she is. The good thing was that if she fell someone was right there to help out. Anyway, Gavin loved it. I think he really wanted to check out the driver' s seat. If there was more time, I think he would have. Once Gavin jumped down, the tones from their radio was sounding. The firefighters had to leave. Gavin watched the firefighters jump into their turnout suits. The lights started flashing and away they went.

All right, back to the animals. We fed the goldfishes.

We went to the petting zoo where Gaving pretended to be a farmer. We gazed at the prairie dogs. We saw the giraffes, and lions, and tigers (no, we didn't see the bears) We made the rounds and really enjoyed our day as a family and with our friends.

The memories we made that Saturday should stay etched in our minds for a while. You know what will be better is one day go back and make new memories with sissy. As I mentioned earlier, we heard from DCFS about our adoption process. We got a letter saying that our home has been approved to be open for placement of a child. Our files has been sent to the main office to be keyed into the database. Anyone in DCFS can see our files and recommend a child to be placed. We can search the nation registry for a child. We are really close in adding to our numbers. We told Gavin this. His comment? Time to find and get sissy!

Heather and I are really excited. We have something in our hands that shows us this is real. We are on our way to get sissy. How long does it take from this point? I guess it depends on how much we bug people. Don't be surprised when you hear of a new family member going out on a next family outing.

    That's awesome!!!
Haven just mentioned to me yesterday that she wanted to go back to the zoo.
Way to work that teaser into the story. You might could take Seacrest's job as AI host with your ability to stretch things out and leave people hanging...lol.

Congratulations on the confirmation. It's just a matter of time now. :)
