"I am sending you my apprentice, Darth Vader. He will... take care of you." -- Darth Sidious Gavin has discovered the joy of "dressing up". Wednesday (February 28, 2007) Gavin and I were looking through some old photos. One of the photos was of him dressed up in his fireman coat and hat. He saw it and told me he wanted to dress up. First we pulled out his fireman outfit. He wore it for about 5 minutes and then decided he wanted to try something else. Next he put on a superman cape and mask. Almost immediately he decided that he didn't like it. Okay, now I am sure that you have jumped ahead and seen the photos so you can all say it with me...Next he found the DARTH VADER costume. It seemed perfect. He loved pressing the buttons, making noise through the mask, and strutting to make the cape swirl around him. He posed for several pictures and then we headed outside in full costume. The neighbors enjoyed seeing our little Darth. Then Gavin decided it was time to ride his bike. I wish you could have seen Darth Vader (aka Gavin) on that tricycle. All of this happened while Darren was at work, but can you imagine the smile that lit his face when he drove down our street and saw Darth Gavin standing in our front yard. It took a couple of seconds to register and when it did he swelled with pride over his little jedi!
Then on Thursday Gavin's Grammie came over and he just had to show off his stuff to her. She was proud too. Maybe not so much of the dark jedi, but of her little Gavin who used his words to tell her that he was "all dressed up"!

Congratulations Gavin, you've taken your first steps into a larger world.
The force is with you young jedi.
