| **** happens |
| Sometimes life just sucks. From time to time I come across a bumper sticker that says s*** happens, and I am always amazed on how true that is. As you may know we finally got Heather's car back last week. It's running fine. However, that was before the cold settled on Arkansas. Heather had to drive to Baptist for a MRI this morning. She got all the way there and the inside of her car was still cold. The defroster/heater wasn't working. Well, I took the car back to the good folks at J & K. For reasons unknown, the heater core was full of stuff. They tried flushing the system. They tried to blow the gunk loose. They tried everything they could think of, but could not get the heater to work. The heater core has to be replaced. Let me put things in perspective. I just had to deal with paying $2000 to replace two head gaskets. It's now going to cost $475 to replace the heating core. Yeah, that stinks. The mechanics have several theories. One is this is one of the aftermaths of the car overheating. Metal shards got have gotten loose and traveled through the hoses. Another theory is when they flushed the engine after replacing the head gaskets, that it caused everything to flow where it shouldn't. Could the mechanics have tampered with it while doing the other work? Unlikely. For one these are two honest guys trying to make their way across the univers. Secondly, the heater core is located on the opposite side of the head gaskets. You would have to remove the dashboard in order to get to this piece of equipment. Tonight I'm just venting. We'll be okay. God has blessed others. He'll bless us (somehow). You all stay warm. |
