| Continuing the Tradition |
For all of you who are wondering....Yes we did follow through with our traditional ornament this year. Let me tell you the story.
Saturday, Darren, Gavin and I set out to find an ornament that would sum up the year for us. Darren was thinking of doctors, Gavin was thinking of trains, and I was hoping for a little more.
We started at Garden Ridge. We went up aisles and down. We scavaged and searched, but nothing was found. No doctors, No trains, and not something more.
We decided that we would have to search another store. Dare and I both thought of Hallmark, so off we went. Me wondering if they would have the ornament and him wondering how much must be spent.
Hallmark was a bust. No ornaments they had could sum up this crazy past year. So we decided we would have to shift gears.
We ran into Family Christian Store, mostly because Gavin needed to go potty, but while we were there we looked around.
We were getting ready to walk out the door when I saw it. The something more. Down on the bottom shelf, not heralded by a special display, but somehow it caught my eye. Opening the box, I saw a series of small plaques. The first was "Faith", the second "Family", and the third "Friends". I knew I had found the something more that was I searching for.
Our year has been full of ups and downs, but there have been three constants: our Faith in God, our support from Family, and our circle of Friends. Without these the year would have been a total wash-out.
So, running to Darren I held the box out. He read it and nodded with a tear in his eye, "Yes this is the one. The one we should buy."
So now if you come to our house you will see our beautiful new ornament hanging on the tree. And if you should happen to be in our house, you are probably one of the reasons we have it about. |

For the record, the tear in my eye was because Gavin chose that moment to drop something on my toe. (believe it or not).
This has been a special year. It had its ups and downs. Heather summed it up. For those who are there for us, we couldn't have done this year without you.
Happy Holidays. dare

That's awesome. God had that little treasure tucked away just for you. Gavin felt the tug of 'the force' to go into the bookstore. He's a gifted child indeed. You guys are so blessed because God has used you to be a blessing to others. Thanks from the Gulledge clan.
