Do you see what i see?

--"Difficult to see. Always in motion is future." -- Yoda

Have you ever looked at a photo and think to yourself "There's something missing." And, you can never put your finger on it. Take a look at the above photo. What's missing? There should be something within the circle I drew. Don't feel too bad if you can't see what's missing. If you can solve this puzzle, I admire your gift of insight. Heather and I can quickly tell you what's missing. Actually, it's not what, but who is missing? Are you there yet? The person that's missing is Gavin's younger brother or sister. Heather and I had planned and hoped to be well on our way for a second child. Well, our plans are not want God intended us to have. With Heather's medical condition, it is very risky to have another child on our own. The medicine (poison) would cause severe problems for the baby growing inside of Heather. Without the medicine, Heather's blood would be prone to thicken and clot. A clot could form in the placenta killing the baby. A clot could form anywhere and move. Heather, then, would be at risk. Heather and I feel like we shouldn't try to have any more kids the natural way.

Well, how then can we fill the empty space? Here's the direction God is leading us and wants us to start heading in that direction: Adoption. I feel strongly about adopting a girl. Heather feels strongly about adopting a child from another country (specifically from Japan). To our friends, family, and prayer warriors, we ask that you pray for us. Pray for direction and wisdom. Pray for the wall of finances to crumble down. Adopting in itself is expensive. Adopting from overseas is a cost I can't fathom. I made the mistake of making a comment to Heather last night. I asked her "How can I provide for four when I have a hard enough time to provide for the three of us?" I missed her point. She was applying the sermon from Sunday and applying it our lives. Ecclesiastes 11:4 says "If you wait for perfect conditions, you'll never get anything done!" Heather and I keep talking about adopting, but we couldn't make it work out. We're going to quit trying and let God do it. This is our first step into the water. The Lord will open a path and let us walk on dry land.

How can I do that if I don't have the money? Good question and I'll answer it very simply. I have faith. Just think about it. Can you imagine what faith can do for me? It's going to allow me to let go my doubt. It's going to help me look for a promise. I'll be depending on God. It's going to allow me to put my foot in the water and walk. When the children of Israel was ready to get out of the desert, they had one obstacle in their way: The Jordan River. During their time, they didn't have any boats or bridges to help them out. God promised to stop the water. Imagine the scene. Thousands of people on the bank of the river. It's during the flood season which means the river was deeper and moving faster. They were told their feet would not get wet and they would walk across. These people grew up knowing the story of the Red Sea. They came to expect God to immediately part the water. What they got was a bunch of water. "Didn't God say He'll let us walk on dry land?" as people start to murmur. Everyone's eyes were on Joshua. I'm sure Joshua was wondering the same thing. "Shouldn't there be an easier way?" one of his aides asked. Joshua knew God kept his promises. Joshua knew it was the right thing to do but he couldn't see it. "Ok God. I trust you. I'm taking the first step and I'll hold you to your promise." Joshua and the other leaders stepped in the water. God saw their faith and acted. He caused a dam to form upstream and within minutes the water level started to recede. By the time the people started to cross, the water had dried up. A miracle!

It's going to take a miracle for us to be able to adopt. This is our first step. We are seeking prayer and support from everyone. We don't know where we are going or how to get there. We know the One that was made the way. He'll let us know when we get there.

Mara, I like. Not so sure about the others.

It is going to be exciting to watch and see what God will do. I know that He is leading us in this direction, but it may be several more years before we see the fulfillment of this dream.
