Nine years ago...

- Denver won the Super Bowl
- The Kentucky Wildcats was the NCAA national basket champions
- Titanic floated away with the Academy Award
- The last episode of Seinfeld was aired.
- Frozen water was found on the moon
- Gene Autry and Frank Sinatra died.
- and my dreams came true.
Nine years ago I thought my dreams came true when I married my best friend, Heather. What really happened was each day became a new and better dream that I had the privilege in sharing with my beautiful bride. Yes, we've had our problems. But that didn't deter us from loving each other with all of our hearts. Heather is still my best friend. She's the reason why I'm such a great person, husband, and father. Her influence on me has worked.
Since our dreams came true nine years ago, I thought it was appropriate to give Heather an Enchanting Evening. I found a wonderful cabin on the other side of Roland, AR that I was able to rent. The name? An Enchanting Evening. PERFECT!!! The cabin had a perfect view of Lake Maumelle and Pinnacle Mountain. It was a beautiful log cabin. What was also neat, the owner made sure we had the right drinks and snacks in the cabin waiting for us.
On the back deck, there was a nice hot tub. We got in there twice. Heather really enjoyed the jets and the warmth. She was able to relax and her pain and tension to float away. I planned for us to be there during the afternoon so we could enjoy the hot tub. Keep in mind I had more planned than just this.
Would you look at Heather! She found a new dress and cut a haircut just for a special occasion. Was it for this? Kinda. I was able to get free tickets to an opera. We decided to go all out and make it a very special time. It just so happened the cabin played a part in the plans as well. The picture above is us sitting by the fireplace (turned on) before we left to meet Brandi at Izzy's. Yes, I'm in long sleeves in front of a hot fire (also holding on to the fire, but that's another story). It was interesting. It reminded my of being outside in a full tux on a late summer's night.
We met Brandi at the restaurant and had a good time. We headed out to the show and was able to walk around for a bit. Heather and Brandi are looking good together on a bridge over a creek. The show was great!
The evening wrapped up with us just lounging around back at the cabin. Everyone please take note of the couch Heather's on. She wants one just like this. It was the best 2 person couch I've ever sat on. Nine years of marriage has done me a lot of good. We still grow in love each day. We learn something new. We are just as silly today as we were nine years ago. However, we are a little smarter. Brad Paisley has a song out titled "She's Everything". The chorus is exactly how I feel: "And she's everything I ever wanted And everything I need. I talk about her, I go on and on and on. 'Cause she's everything to me."
Happy Anniversary my Angel-Face. I still love you.
