| Heather the Wildflower |
Heather the Wildflower decided that her life wasn't interesting enough. She was tired being in the wild where nobody noticed her. Heather the Wildflower picked up her roots and headed for town. She saw a beautiful garden full of common flowers: roses, daisies, pansies, irises, and all other lovely flowers. She found a spot among the roses that looked cozy. Heather the Wildflower planted herself down. It didn't take long for the gardener to notice something was different among the roses. Something unique and something that shouldn't happen was growing in his roses: A wildflower. "What are the chances of a wildflower showing up in a carefully planned and maintained flower bed?" thought the gardener. "This is unusual."
Well, Heather has never been one that wants to be noticed. With everything that's going on, she wishes she could stay hidden. I'm thinking that everyone that reads this has also gotten an email from Heather about what's going on. In short, Heather has thick blood and it's prone to clotting. She was put on 4 medicines. One of them, Plavix, caused a severe asthma attack. (not good). She went to see Dr. Baltz last Monday about that. The doctor came in and gave Heather a hug. Dr. Baltz said "I'm sorry. I've never heard anyone having an allergic reaction to Plavix. You're a wildflower, and I'll be learning a lot about you."
I've been telling people that Heather is special. I didn't know how special she is. Ninety-nine percent of the population has success on the drug. Heather would be the 1% that can't take it. (this is just an example. It's not the true percentages). Unfortunately, the other medicine that's on the market to reduce the platelets in Heather's blood is 40% asprin. Heather is allergic to asprin. The doctor hopes the blood-thinner Coumadin is enough to work with Heather.
What's next for Heather? I'm afraid more doctor visits. She sees Dr. Baltz this Friday. She sees Dr. Ironside, the neurologist, on Monday. Please keep us in your prayers. (on another note: my car is not working and Heather's car needs servicing. it's not the best time to have cars not running. Please pray that God will provide something) |
